Namdapha National Park: A Quick-Guide For Your Next Trip

There are total 106 national park in india and Namdapha national park is one of them which is situated in far east of Indian state Arunanchal pradesh.

It is one of the biggest national park which covers 2000 kms and having altitude from 300 metres to 4,400 metres. Due to this ,it has variety of flora and fauna which can’t be seen in other forest or national park.
It become more intresting when you will know ,there is no Jeep safari available in this big jungle. You will have to walk and explore the national park with your feet after getting permission from forest office which is situated in miao.

In this evergreen rain forest, you will get an armed man cum guide who will assist you in exploring Namdapha national park through narrow trail. You will see diffrent animals, plants, and birds during this trail.

Great hornbill is the national bird of Arunanchal pradesh which is very common to see in Namdapha national park.
Namdapha national park is the only place where you will find both leopard and Ice-leopard. Apart from that you can see tiger , elephant ,Deer, wolf, Beer, boar, Red panda, Red fox, otters and many more.

If you are lucky then you will see flying squirrels. As per my experience variety of butterfly in Namdapha national park is unmatchable and not found any where else. As I told you this is tropical rain forest, so availability of leeches is very common and I would suggest you to cover you leg and keep some salt with you during the trail.

How to reach Namdapha national park

As I said , Namdapha national park is situated in Miao which is changlang district of Arunachal pradesh.

Miao is 550 kms from Gateway of Northeast i.e Guwahati, which has good connectivity of railway , airways from rest of India. But to visit Namdapha, you can take train for Lido which is 55 kms from Miao.

Again there is a problem of connectivity due to less train for lido, so its good to take train for New tinsukia junction, which is 110 kms from Miao.

Buses and private cars are available from New tinsukiya junction to Miao on regular interval.
Dibrugarh is nearest airport from where you can take buses or car for Miao.

Miao is centre of point to access Namdapha national park, so you can get some hotel and budget guest house there.
Another option is to stay in Deban which is 20 kms inside in jungle, where you get Rest house of forest department. Deban is good place to stay if you are visiting Namdapha national park.
